Hiwula and Chaplin spent 12 months as team-mates in the west midlands, arriving from Huddersfield and Pompey respectively in the summer of 2018.
The Worthing ace raved about the Blues during their time together – which made moving to the south coast even more appealing for Hiwula.
He said: ‘I'm delighted to get it done. I got the call off my agent on Tuesday and told him to get the move done.

‘Pompey came in and it was just a no-brainer to come here.
‘I've spoken to Conor previously and he told me if I ever get a chance then grab it with both hands.
‘He had nothing to say but good things about the club. I'm glad I’ve spoken to him because Conor really loves this club and had nothing but good things to say.’
Hiwula already knows several players at Fratton Park.
He played with Michael Jacobs on loan at Wigan in 2015-16, as well as Craig MacGillivray and Paul Downing during two spells at Walsall.
The former England under-19 international added: ‘I know a few of the lads already so they've helped me settle in.
‘It's always easier to settle in when you know a few familiar faces.’
