Hide AdKane made a superb impact when on loan at Doncaster two seasons ago and was named in the League One Team of the Season.
The 21-year-old spent the second half of last term at Hull, although injuries prevented him from making a real impact as Grant McCann’s side were relegated from the Championship.
Kane’s well out of favour at the Premier League champions and it’s no surprise that he's set for a move away from Anfield once again.
With Pompey ready to admit defeat on Ben Thompson returning to the club, Kane was seemingly a possible alternative. He was also a target for Kenny Jackett last summer.

However, it's Barnsley where Kane is set to move for a fee of £1.25m.
Jones wrote on Twitter: ‘Herbie Kane finalising medical at Barnsley ahead of a permanent move, too. Could make debut tomorrow against home-town club Bristol City.
‘Fee for Herbie Kane is £1.25m including add-ons. #LFC will also have a 15 per cent sell-on clause.
‘Barnsley saw off competition from Luton, Hull and Portsmouth to sign 21-year-old midfielder.’
