Unique Bob Jackson deserves recognition - but who's your favourite Portsmouth manager?
Similarly, this column is really just my excuse to use up spare time writing about Pompey memories, and if one or more people read it and enjoy it, great.
So even after having been in this corner of the Sports Mail a tad over 18 years now, it still pleases me when I get an email from a reader.

Hide AdAnd I’m happy to report that I’ve had quite a few in response to the ‘who’s your favourite Pompey manager?’ poll I'm running.
No disrespect to the Twitterati but an email response seems to mean more.
With just a few more days to go in the voting, this week’s inbox has contained votes for one or two of those outside the obvious trio who are still leading the poll by some distance.
I have had votes for Guy Whittingham, Frank Burrows and Steve Claridge, among others, as well as some for Kenny Jackett – only right, really, when you consider his excellent win percentage.
But I’m also pleased to be getting votes for Bob Jackson.

Mike Simmonds, who saw his first game in 1946, writes: ‘I was brought up on Bob Jackson and he seems difficult to beat – although he did have the advantage of several players who played in the wartime years and had been in the Navy.’
Another voting for Jackson is Michael Gale: ‘I watched home games from the stand opposite the tunnel as a teenager. Most from that era can still recite the whole team.’
You have until 9am Friday to vote – at @stevebone1 on Twitter or [email protected]
Results will be revealed over the next two columns.
