Scott Gregory moves into Spanish tournament's quarter-finals
Corhampton's Scott Gregory will face the reigning Portuguese Amateur Champion after booking his place in the Spanish Amateur Championship quarter-final at Seville GC, yesterday, with a one-hole win over Ireland's Colm Campbell.
The 21-year-old, who finished fourth in last year’s European Amateur Championship, will battle with Italian Guido Migliozzi in his bid to become only the second Hampshire winner of the Spanish crown – after Lee-on-Solent’s Sam Hutsby’s triumph in 2006 against Edoardo Molinari in the final.
Gregory produced the shock of the first round of the matchplay by demolishing Goodwood’s England international Marco Penge 6&5, having qualified in 12th place on Thursday, after rounds of 74 and 70.
