Portsmouth and Hampshire schools’ Ofsted inspections

Parents across Hampshire last week found out where their children will go to school.

We have put together a list of the most recent inspections carried out by education watchdog Ofsted at junior schools in Portsmouth, Hampshire and West Sussex, and how they were judged in some of the key areas.

After a school is inspected Ofsted publishes a report giving an overall effectiveness rating. These are Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement and Inadequate.

PORTSMOUTH

Court Lane Junior School, Cosham

Overall effectiveness: Good. Inspection date: 21 October, 2014

English grammar, punctuation and spelling: In 2014, 86% of pupils attained Level 4 or above in the key stage 2 grammar, punctuation and spelling test. This is an increase of 12 percentage points since 2013.

Reading: In 2014, 95% of pupils attained Level 4 or above in the key stage 2 reading test. This is an increase of seven percentage points since 2013.

Writing: In 2014, 86% of pupils attained Level 4 or above in the key stage 2 writing assessment. This is an increase of one percentage point since 2013.

Mathematics: In 2014, 93% of pupils attained Level 4 or above in the key stage 2 mathematics test. This is an increase of three percentage points since 2013.

Overall attendance: In 2014, the attendance rate at this school was 97.1%. The attendance rate has increased by 0.5 percentage points since 2013. The attendance rate is in the top 20% of all schools.

Craneswater Junior School, Southsea

Overall effectiveness: Good. Inspection date: 14 March, 2013

English grammar, punctuation and spelling: In 2014, 81% of pupils attained Level 4 or above in the key stage 2 grammar, punctuation and spelling test. This is an increase of five percentage points since 2013.

Reading: In 2014, 94% of pupils attained Level 4 or above in the key stage 2 reading test. This is an increase of 12 percentage points since 2013.

Writing: In 2014, 87% of pupils attained Level 4 or above in the key stage 2 writing assessment. This is an increase of four percentage points since 2013.

Mathematics: In 2014, 97% of pupils attained Level 4 or above in the key stage 2 mathematics test. This is an increase of 10 percentage points since 2013.

Fernhurst Junior School, Southsea

Overall effectiveness: Good. Inspection date: 27 February, 2013
