Multiple Leigh Park fires ‘potentially’ caused deliberately are tackled by crews facing day where ‘resources were already stretched’

One pump and one Land Rover were sent out to deal with four calls received around the same time this afternoon.

It is possible that the fires were started intentionally, fire crews have said.

A firefighter from Havant station said: ‘These were small fires in the open potentially caused by people deliberately lighting fires.

‘It was hot and heavy work on a day on which resources were already stretched.’
