We did very well to defend our box with a number of long ball and throws into our box.

We defended resolutely to hold on to our one-goal lead.

We certainly earned it and I’m pleased with my team as they showed both sides of the game to get the victory.

It was a 0-0 draw written all over it but we make a mistake and they get a goal.

Both teams didn’t have any real efforts on goal so, from my point of view, it’s the worst game I have been involved Portsmouth against Plymouth. It was rubbish.

They (Pompey) weren’t in our 18-yard box in the first half. We were the better team.

In the second half we pushed on and we went for it. Overall, as a spectacle, it wasn’t great.

We deserved the victory. I thought we started the second half really well and we were disappointed not to get the second.

I thought Brandon Haunstrup did really well against a player of the quality of Graham Carey.

But there were so many good performances all across the pitch.

He (keeper Remi Matthews) made a mistake and, unfortunately, we couldn’t get (a goal) in the other end to rectify it.

There’ll be no blame on him at all, it’s an unfortunate one.

If you are the last line, that’s what happens – if you make a mistake in goal, there is no-one else behind you to bail you out – it’s part and parcel of football.

Pompey emerged victorious from a typically-tight contest with Plymouth – and deserved it.

It was tense at the end, especially through six minutes of time added on, but Luke McGee was barely tested. In fact the Blues deserved to put the game beyond doubt during the early stages of the second half. This result lifts them to seventh place... while Plymouth sink to the bottom.
