Southsea Community Cinema launches winter season of films and events

SOUTHSEA Community Cinema is kicking off its winter programme including the screening of the Star Wars classic The Empire Strikes back and the Muppet Christmas Carol.

The Recovery Festival will start on Friday, December 11 and will be hosted in the Glass House at the Pyramids Centre.

Saturday will also see the return of the I am Only Human project which gives youngsters the opportunity to use film to express the impacts of crime on young people in Portsmouth.

All events taking place across the winter season will be free to NHS staff and carers who have a carer identification card.

Having been operating out of the University of Portsmouth in recent years the community cinema has launched a crowdfunder to help secure their own premises.
