Unveiled in Southampton this month, it’s the most technologically advanced cruise ship in the world.

From record check-in times - just seven minutes on the first day - to superfast wifi and apps that put guests in charge of their cruise choices, this is technology at its most practical.

With a unique Bionic Bar - with robot bartenders - it’s also great fun too.

There are even 375 virtual balconies - interior staterooms offering real-time views of the ocean - so that even if you didn’t secure one of the 1,571 rooms with an actual balcony, you have a real sense of a sea vista.

It’s all designed to put customers in the driving seat - and give them their first day back. Because you can plan your cruise long before you step foot on the state of the art ship.

And there’s plenty to choose from.

‘Dynamic dining’ is the phrase coined to describe a completely new approach to choosing what and where you will eat. There are 18 distinctive restaurants from Jamie’s Italian to the rather more formal The Grande.

There’s also a wealth of entertainment. The Royal Theatre seats 1,300 guests - and Mamma Mia was being performed in all its Abba glory at the launch. There’s also Music Hall, Two70 a multi level panoramic room, and SeaPlex the largest indoor active space which even has bumper cars!

Those cars are a clue to the real sense of adventure that now powers visionary ships like this.

North Star - an engineering marvel - takes guests to new heights in a glass capsule giving spectacular views above the ship; while RipCord by iFLY is the first skydiving experience at sea, all conducted in a safe environment.

Quantum is huge. Standing bow to stern it’s the same length as 41 London buses laid end to end.

But if the technology and the sheer scale of the enterprise seems daunting - don’t worry.

At the heart of Royal Caribbean International’s newest ship is the one element that makes all its cruises special.

Every guest is made to feel like a VIP thanks to fantastic customer service from every crew member on board.

So whether you a traditional older cruiser or a young adventure seeker taking to the seas for the first time, you are guaranteed the warmest of welcomes.
