Portsmouth Guildhall launches ticket sales for new shows - including Jimmy Carr

PORTSMOUTH Guildhall has launched the sale of tickets for a number of upcoming shows, announcing it is ‘good to go’ after putting in place measures to mitigate the risk of coronavirus.

With tickets for a wide range of shows going on sale, it marks a significant day in the venues fight-back from the financial impacts of the pandemic.

A statement on the venue’s website said: ‘Portsmouth Guildhall is “good to go” having successfully achieved the Industry Standard Mark of Visit Britain which demonstrates that the venue is adhering to government and public health guidance, has carried out all necessary risk assessments and has the required processes in place.

‘To ensure the wellbeing of all, an extensive range of Covid safety measures have been put in place including social distancing, one-way systems, staggered entry and exits, sanitisation stations, temperature checks, face coverings, to your seat service, contactless payment systems and a thorough cleaning regime after every performance including the use of antiviral misting on seats and carpets in the auditorium.’

Comedy will be one of the first genres to make a comeback this autumn with Jimmy Carr and Carl Hutchinson set to perform at the iconic venue as well as the the return of the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club TV All Stars evenings.

A number of concerts are also scheduled for next year with Elbow, Jamie Cullum, UB40 and Belinda Carlisle all set to play the Guildhall in 2021.

On January 2 the aptly named The King is Back will be the first musical show to return, featuring the ‘world’s number one Elvis tribute’ which will be followed later in the month by The Johnny Cash Roadshow and The Simon and Garfunkel Story.

Legendary The Jam front-man, Paul Weller, is also set to perform on June 25.

The Style Councillors – a tribute to The Style Council – is on January 16.
