Portsmouth's New Theatre Royal celebrates National Lottery grant to help combat Covid-19

A THEATRE is celebrating after being handed a grant of nearly £5,000 to help it during the coronavirus pandemic.

The New Theatre Royal, Guildhall Walk, will receive £4,800 from The National Lottery Heritage Emergency Fund.

A post on the theatre’s Facebook page said: ‘We're delighted to have been awarded a grant from the Heritage Emergency Fund.

‘Thank you to National Lottery players who have made this funding possible, providing vital support to New Theatre Royal during the coronavirus crisis.’

Sheena Hulme, acting chief executive, said: ‘It Is very helpful. In the short term it means we can open up our studio in September to our community user groups.’
