50 jobs up for grabs as new warehouse opens in Portsmouth

MORE than 50 new jobs are being created in Portsmouth as a building materials supplier announces its plans to expand.

Selco Builders Warehouse has identified the city as its latest target for its nationwide branch expansion programme.

The recruitment process is in full swing with virtually all staff expected to be employed from the local area.

Chris Cunliffe, chief executive of Selco Builders Warehouse, said: ‘Opening in Portsmouth will be of great benefit to the local economy and gives people the chance to join a company with fantastic opportunities for career progression.

‘Selco’s recruitment policy has always been to employ those from the branch’s local community and that will continue in Portsmouth.

‘The recruitment process is currently under way with a host of different job openings available.

‘We have had a lot of interest in our positions.

Selco Portsmouth will further extend the company’s presence within Hampshire joining the Southampton branch which opened in November 2015.

More nationwide branches are due to open throughout 2016.

Rob Thorpe, branch manager at Selco Portsmouth, said: ‘The preparation stages are always an exciting period, as we continue to look forward to the opening of our latest branch.

‘We will be recruiting a very strong, community-based team and we look forward to welcoming new and existing Selco customers into our newest branch.’

The 44th Selco branch in the UK will be located in Northarbour Road, off the A27, and is set to open its doors to trade customers in September.
