Abundance of marine life spotted from ferry

A team from MARINElife, a research, education and conservation charity, spotted the animals on a Condor Ferries sailing from Portsmouth last month.

Travelling onboard Commodore Goodwill, the researchers noted cormorants, gannets, herring gulls and kittiwakes, as well as five dolphins.

Condor Ferries has supported MARINElife by allowing officers to conduct monthly surveys on its fast and conventional ferries running from the UK to the Channel Islands and France.

A variety of marine life and seabirds has been sighted during this time – from acrobatic common dolphins, shy harbour porpoises and large minke whales, to the pirate of the seabird world, the great skua, globally threatened Balearic shearwater and the gannet.
