SOUTHAMPTON Airport saw more than 200,000 passengers through its doors in August – the highest number in a single month since 2007 and representing a three per cent increase in passengers over 2013.

The route with the largest growth, year on year, was Guernsey with an increase of 53 per cent more passengers.

The city break destinations experiencing growth include Manchester, Belfast, Dublin and Amsterdam, compared with August 2013.

Expansion was also seen in the French regional flights to and from Clermont Ferrand, Brest, Rennes, Limoges, Nantes, Bordeaux and La Rochelle.

Verona was also up on 2013 this August.

Jan Halliday, director of marketing and communications, said: ‘We have seen a three per cent growth in our passenger numbers in August 2014 versus the same month in 2013.

‘It is also the first time that over 200,000 passengers have used the airport in one month since 2007.

‘The route that has seen the greatest growth is Guernsey, operated by both Blue Islands and Flybe, with up to eight daily flights.’
