A SUPERMARKET chain has said it is looking forward to opening a new store.

Demolition work is currently being carried out in Mumby Road, Gosport, to clear a way for a new Aldi store.

It comes as there has been a mixed reaction to the plans to open the store next year.

As reported, people have said the area needs more tourist attractions, clothes shops and restaurant – rather than a supermarket.

An Aldi spokeswoman said: ‘We look forward to opening our doors to our new customers in 2015.’
