YOUNG entrepreneurs at the University of Portsmouth are to be honoured for their hard work tomorrow.

It is an annual awards ceremony which looks for the next entrepreneurial stars of the university – the future Richard Bransons.

The awards come on the back of statistics which show a record number of new companies starting up with Portsmouth as their registered address, as The News previously reported.

Among contenders for the awards are English Direct, a translation agency which helps vulnerable groups to gain employment though language improvement; Inventory Base, a radical software solution for inventory capture and management; and Mobile London, an application giving users real time transport information direct to their mobile phones.

The awards ceremony will be held at Southsea Castle from 5pm tomorrow.

The university’s most promising student entrepreneurs will be joined by keynote speaker Gilles Macey, founder and managing director of Euro-Eleven, a European fantasy football website and community.
