THE UK’s major banks will, from January, be forced to reveal how much they have lent to homeowners and businesses.

Danny Alexander, chief secretary to the treasury, said the move aimed to boost credit and help smaller lenders exploit areas with little lending. The data will cover 10,000 postcodes.
