A HAVANT business has picked a children’s charity to raise funds for throughout the year.

Basepoint Havant is to sponsor Over the Wall, for the next financial year.

Over the Wall provides life-changing experiences to children and young people aged eight to 17, who are affected by serious illnesses.

Sherry Thomson, assistant centre manager at Basepoint Havant, said: ‘We’re thrilled to be supporting Over the Wall for the next financial year.

‘The work they do with children who suffer from serious illnesses is nothing short of awe-inspiring.’

An abseil event down Spinnaker Tower, in Gunwharf Quays, has already kick-started the fundraising.

Donna Beetham, regional development manager, for the charity, said: ‘We’re over the moon that Basepoint is supporting us for the next financial year.

‘Our abseil event was a great success – everyone’s highlight was watching our chief executive Kevin Mathieson abseil down the tower in his black tie formal wear.

‘We hope to raise much-needed awareness of our charity work within Hampshire, and after Basepoint’s match-funding, we’re already on our way to our £30,000 target.’
