Three Hampshire charities are more than £2,000 better off after a fundraising summer ball hosted by staff from south coast law firm Blake Morgan.

The black tie event, organised by volunteers from the firm’s Southampton and Portsmouth offices, was held at Steeple Court Manor, Botley.

The ball was in aid of Blake Morgan’s chosen three charities – The Rainbow Centre in Fareham, which supports children and adults with conditions such as cerebral palsy and Multiple Sclerosis; The Haven, which helps patients with breast cancer; and Homestart, which supports families in need.

Guests at the event were welcomed with wine from the venue’s own vineyard before being escorted to the event marquee for dinner and speeches.

A representative from each charity talked about their work before dinner was served, followed by an auction, raffle and dancing.

Among the prizes on offer were a short break from Away Resorts Holidays, a Red Letter Days experience, tickets for cricket at the Ageas Bowl and donations from Marriott Hotels, Chilworth Manor, Catherine Swatridge Hypnotherapy, Marwell Zoo, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Romsey Rapids and Harlequins Rugby Club.

The evening raised a total of £2,265 with £755 going to each charity.

Amy Floyd, a paralegal at Blake Morgan who helped organise the event, said: ‘This was a fantastic night and guests had a lot of fun, as well as the valuable experience of hearing more from Blake Morgan’s chosen charities about the work they do in the region.

‘We are very grateful to all those who attended and to all the businesses in the area who supported the event.’
