BOUTIQUE dress shop Mousetrap opened its new business premises in Havant with a bridal fashion show.
Mousetrap Dress Boutique has moved from its Chichester store, into North Street, Havant and is hoping to change its business direction in the process by focusing on weddings.
The store was officially opened recently by the Mayor of Havant, Councillor Leah Turner.
Staff from the dress shop worked together with nearby businesses to simulate a wedding party with bridal gowns, refreshments and sample photography for its grand opening.
The event was a collective effort with Brown’s Hair Studio providing the models’ hair styling and Forget-Me-Nots Florist bringing bouquets. Soon to be brides in attendance enjoyed glasses of champagne and free cupcakes whilst models showcased some of what Mousetrap has to offer along the catwalk.
Shop assistant and fashion show co-ordinator at Mousetrap, Lauren Baxter, said: ‘I hand-picked every single dress. We wanted to get across to the brides that it would be just as effortless on their big day.’
Guests were treated to goodie bags full of treats from businesses based around Havant. The bags included free samples of hair treatments, body oils and a free five-day pass to Energie Fitness.
Owner of Mousetrap Dress Boutique, Lisa Farley, said her vision for the new store was to provide customers with a relaxing and interesting environment.
She said: ‘We wanted to bring something new and different to Havant, something I don’t think they have had there before.
‘We tried to get a little bit of community feel within the businesses.
‘I’d like to do it again and again as an annual event in the area.’
Susan Hewett, owner of Forget-Me-Nots Florist, said the new Mousetrap store was just what the area needed.
She said: ‘We didn’t have a wedding shop in Havant until Mousetrap arrived.’
