SOUTHSEA electrician David Houghton has made it through to the regional finals of a nationwide search to find Britain’s Top Tradesman.

David, 31, has seen off competition from across the region to become one of only five local tradesmen and women to make it through to this stage.

David, who trades under the name Houghton Electrical, based in Southsea, has identified energy saving as a key area of expansion for his business.

David said: ‘Britain’s Top Tradesman is a fantastic competition so I’m delighted to be a regional finalist.

‘When I started out in the business I only did small jobs but now I am more involved in heating systems and have both commercial and residential clients.

‘It’s challenging at times but that’s why I love it, and I get a sense of pride creating an energy plan for customers as I know it will save them money.’
