Jamie Gray and his brother Daniel spent almost a decade working in property development and estate agency abroad.

The duo have created a new style of agency with their business, Nexa.

Taking over the site that was formerly home to the nightclub Scandals, the pair have spent the summer fitting out Hampshire Terrace and transforming into a bright work space.

The pair’s business plan is to tailor their service to each individual.

Jamie said: ‘We’ve come here with a philosophy built on our overseas experience with an aim to revolutionise estate agency, where estate agents are fully responsible for the property they are selling, renting or managing and personally responsible for the customer they are handling.

‘We have recruited talented local property professionals who share our vision.’

Before gaining experience overseas, the entrepreneurs grew up in Portsmouth and helped their father, Peter Gray, with his business.

Mr Gray was an English teacher who moved to Dubai to set up an English language school.

He returned to the UK to get married and brought his company back with him.

Jamie said: ‘My brother and I used to help out at the school, cleaning, tidying and doing general admin. We enjoyed it and it gave us a love of travel and meeting people from different parts of the world.

‘In some ways we’re following in our dad’s footsteps by coming home and building a new business in Portsmouth.

‘If we can create something which helps as many people and is as lasting as the Language School then we will be delighted.’
