COMMUNITY groups and charities across the area are being awarded grants of up to £1,000.

The grants are awarded to places where BT employees volunteer their time and skills.

BT is making the grants through its employee recognition scheme, the 2012 BT People Awards. The awards recognise BT’s volunteering heroes who give large amounts of their time to their local communities.

There are 24 groups in the south east which have benefited from the grants including the Baffins Pond Association in Portsmouth, the Fareham District Scout Band and the Portsmouth and Southsea Cricket Club.
