The new branch, in Arnside Road, is part of the company’s ongoing expansion plans.

Screwfix’s new Waterlooville store manager, Nick Emms said he was proud of the contribution the new store has made to employment figures in the region.

‘We’ve created 11 brand new vacancies and have employed local people from around the Waterlooville area,’ he said.

‘Our new team includes people of all ages and levels of experience, but the most important requirement is that they have the right attitude and can offer superb customer service.

‘Everyone here is really looking forward to the store opening.’

Tradesmen and DIYers are all invited to attend the Waterlooville Screwfix opening on Thursday where they can also demonstrate their professional skills in a free-to-enter screw-drilling competition.

The fastest time will win a 40in smart TV.

Throughout the store’s launch celebration period from Thursday until Sunday all product ranges will carry a 10 per cent discount among other store-specific special offers.

Leading power tool manufacturer DeWalt, will be at the store demonstrating a range of products from the Screwfix catalogue.

Mr Emms said he believes that the store’s convenient location and the ability to provide a Click and Collect service within just five minutes of ordering will be a real bonus to local tradesmen

and DIY enthusiasts.

He said: ‘I’m confident that we’ve got a great location here in Waterlooville.

‘My team and I have already been out and about getting to know local businesses and tradesmen and we’ve all been struck by how friendly everyone has been.
