FIRMS which entered The News Business Excellence Awards 2012 will find out on Tuesday whether they have made the short list.

Now in its ninth year, the awards recognise the best of businesses from Chichester to Park Gate, and from Petersfield to the Isle of Wight.

This year the awards are bigger than ever before.

They now feature Apprentice of the Year, Retailer of the Year, Start-up of the year and we have a category for Hospitality, Tourism and Leisure.

We have also combined our previous categories of Business Personality and Achiever of the Year into one.

Our Community Contribution category has expanded to include firms which have been dedicated to improving their green credentials.

And for the first time, each of the winners in our 12 categories will go head to head for the chance to be crowned overall Business of the Year.

Not only that, but each of the category winners will be automatically entered into the Southern Business Awards, held in Brighton by The News’s parent company Johnston Press next summer.

The short-listed entrants will feature in a special awards supplement, free with The News on Tuesday.

But they will have to wait until Friday, February 10 to find out which have been victorious.
