FIRMS which support Portsmouth Naval Base are being invited to bid for £4.7m worth of investment.
Small and medium-sized companies in the Solent area can each apply for between £10,000 and £300,000.
The projects have to demonstrate they will help safeguard the 20,000 jobs linked to the base or create new ones.
More details will emerge during a meeting at the base this morning.
More than £1m has already been attracted to the region in investment thanks to the Bridging the Gap fun, which has been administered by Solent LEP.
A Solent LEP spokesman said: ‘This is a really big growth opportunity.
‘The purpose of our funding is to help those small and medium-sized businesses, whether it means helping them get capital equipment or helping them upgrade their systems.’
