A POPULAR butcher is helping his customers achieve their new year’s resolutions – by opening a healthy butcher’s shop in Southsea.

Maurice Twells, 58, owns Twells Traditions, an award-winning butchers in West Street, Porchester, locally known for his low-fat products.

And they have been such a success that Maurice and his business partner Tony Watson will be opening Mo’s Healthy Options in Fawcett Road in January.

Maurice said: ‘Everyone has the new year’s resolution to lose weight and our products are completely fat-free, which ties in well.’

‘One customer has lost more than ten stone and he buys about 70 sausages a week.’

The shop will stock varieties of sausages, burgers, faggots, chicken breast, vegetarian sausages, and gluten free products which are all low-fat.

Maurice said: ‘Some of our produce contains less fat than pasta.’

The butchers have been recommended by diet clubs for the low calorie, sugar, and fat content in the meat.

Vicky Callaway, 29, from Wymering has lost more than eight stone.

She said: ‘I’ve eaten the Healthy Options range since I started my diet in January.

‘They are absolutely delicious and helped me lose weight, and you don’t have to worry about how much you eat.’

Maurice and Tony have played sports such as squash and racket ball for many years and regularly attend the gym.

The shop is set to open between January 7 to 9.

Tony said: ‘We have had such a good response and we are very excited.’
