Since then, the Portsmouth employees have worked hard to raise money by undertaking various charity initiatives and activities.

Tracey Collins, general manager at Grosvenor Casino, Portsmouth, said: ‘We’re incredibly proud of the efforts our team members, customers and the people of Portsmouth have made to support a worthwhile charity.

‘Three in five people will become carers in the UK at some point in their lives, and with seven million carers in the UK already, it’s crucial there’s funding available to provide the support they need.

‘We’re delighted to know we have contributed in some way to the invaluable help the charity offers.

‘We will continue our fundraising endeavours to ensure Carers Trust can carry on assisting carers.

The funds raised have helped more than 6,000 carers learn new skills, and given them the chance to meet other socially isolated carers.

Gail Scott-Spicer, CEO of Carers Trust, said: ‘The fundraising efforts of team members from Grosvenor Casino Portsmouth, and their customers, have been phenomenal.

‘Their support has made a difference to local unpaid carers by providing them with respite breaks, grants to buy essential items, and opportunities to go on courses, and more.’
