Lee Sergeant, from the firm, said: '˜This is an incredibly worthwhile project which has made a real difference to the lives of many people.'

Hayling Island Community Centre, a registered charity, welcomes 2,000 people through its doors every week. The National Lottery awarded a grant of £500,000 towards the project while the community and its team of volunteers spent five years raising the rest.

Centre manager Tania Jones said: '˜This award is tremendous recognition of all the hard work of everyone involved.'
