Chamber calls for support before budget

CALLS have been made for the government to support enterprise partnerships in the south, make changes to the apprentice levy and invest into infrastructure, from the chair of Hampshire Chamber of Commerce. Â

Ross McNally, executive chair of the group, highlighted a series of economic priorities that members want the chancellor to address, ahead of the budget on Monday.

Mr McNally also said that more certainty was needed around Brexit and that work needed to be done to reform business rates.

He added: '˜We'd like to see more government support for the two local enterprise partnerships in our area, Enterprise M3 LEP and Solent LEP.

'˜These are under-resourced to meet the economic challenges we face in Hampshire, particularly on transport infrastructure and mobility.

Government could be doing more to support the AI and data economy, the future of mobility, clean growth and innovation to meet the needs of our ageing population. We have many companies doing great things but they need a better landscape of support to enable investment.'Â
