Changes to MoT time are criticised by car group

PROPOSALS to allow new cars on the road for four years instead of the current three before requiring an MoT have been criticised by one of the south's leading motoring groups.

Mark Busby from Hendy Group, which operates car operations in Hampshire, said he believes the benefits being promoted by the government as part of its current consultation process are outweighed by the pitfalls.

He said: ‘Safety has to be the absolute priority for everyone on the roads and to change the timing of the first MoT could severely compromise the safety of all road users.’
