A PORTSMOUTH MP is encouraging charities to bid for money from a £4m fund.

Penny Mordaunt, Portsmouth North MP, is urging charities and not-for-profit groups to bid for funding from a £4m pot to support efforts to reduce global poverty.

The Global Poverty Action Fund’s Community Partnership Window allows small, UK-based organisations to put forward innovative ideas to help the poorest people around the world.

Penny said: “I know there are some fabulous individuals and organisations in Portsmouth working hard and spending time and effort supporting those in need.

‘The Community Partnership Window of the Global Poverty Action Fund enables them to put forward their ideas to help people the poorest parts of the globe. Successful projects will receive funds to turn their vision into reality.’

The bidding process is now open and closes on July 9.
