Cheaper fares on the way at park and ride

Regular users of Portsmouth Park and Ride could pay £2 per day as part of a new smartcard initiative.

Portsmouth City Council is launching new commuter and visitor passes from Monday to reward the most regular customers.

These passes are valid for longer so there is more time to take advantage of cheaper parking. A one-day ticket will stay the same at £4.

A Commuterpass 50 costs £100 and can be used 50 times, which works out as £2 per day.

City councillor Jim Fleming, the cabinet member for traffic and transportation, said: ‘By reducing the cost for frequent users, Portsmouth Park and Ride will be the most cost-effective way to commute to work in the city. If you purchase a smartcard there is no need to queue at ticket machines and no need to queue in traffic.’

Customers can purchase a Commuterpass 50, Commuterpass 20 or Visitorpass 10 at the machine in the terminal building or at parkandride.portsmouth.gov.uk
