DEMOLITION and decommissioning firm Hughes and Salvidge has picked up an award for building its business.

The firm, which has its head office in Flathouse Road, Portsmouth, won the Business Growth Award in the Construction News Specialists Awards, held at London’s Hilton Hotel in Park Lane.

The firm was also highly commended in the Project of the Year (over £500,000) category for the firm’s Outokumpu Project, which was the decommissioning of a cold rolling plant in Sheffield.

The judges said: ‘The energy of this company is shown in its dynamic growth in a number of areas including product diversification, new services, geographic expansion – in fact they have never stopped investing.’

More than 600 firms attended the ceremony, held to recognise the best building industry contractors in the UK.
