FREE fruit is on offer to Portsmouth’s schoolchildren in a new healthy eating scheme.
For three Fridays – June 10, 17 and 24 – youngsters will be able to pick up apples and bananas from many Southern Co-operative shops around the city.
School pupils will have to visit the stores while wearing their school uniforms between 7.30am and 8.30am, or 3.30pm and 5.30pm, to collect a complimentary piece of fruit.
The Free Fruit Friday project will be launched on Friday, June 10 by Linvoy Primus in Guildhall Square at 7.30am.
The former Pompey fans’ favourite will be handing out fruit for an hour alongside Southern Co-operative employees from the Co-op’s promotional trailer.
