College encourages firms to enter News' Business Excellence Awards

A COLLEGE said celebrating businesses for their achievements is key.

Havant and South Downs College (HSDC), which is a sponsor of The News' Business Excellence Awards, is also calling for people to get their entries in before it is too late.

The glittering ceremony highlights the fantastic work of a range of businesses across Portsmouth and surrounding areas from retailers to start-ups and small employers to large.

It also recognises apprentices, teams who go above and beyond and those companies who give back to the community.

HSDC is sponsoring the Large Business of the Year Award.

Aaron Butson, director of business and growth at the college, said: '˜For the third year running, HSDC is sponsoring a Business Excellence Award with The News.

'˜We feel it is important to recognise excellence in all aspects of business and these awards enable us to demonstrate our support of the business community.

'˜As we continue to grow a successful apprenticeship provision and create strong employer links in our curriculum design, HSDC is passionate about being the provider of choice for the business community.

'˜It is important to celebrate when a good job is being done, so don't forget to get your entries in so we can look forward to an inspiring event.'

The black-tie occasion is being held in February at Portsmouth Guildhall and will be the 18th year of the Business Excellence Awards.

Speaking at the launch of the awards, held earlier this month at the University of Portsmouth, Mark Waldron, editor of The News, said: '˜There is some great work happening in the Portsmouth area and we should celebrate and share that and give ourselves a pat on the back.'
