Companies pitch in to help at Portsmouth playground

The teams from the branches in Commercial Road, Fratton and Ocean Retail Park in Portsmouth were led by restaurant supervisor Steve Smith and worked together to help clean up the park to make the playground ready for a new zipwire. Other Portsmouth businesses supported the event with Toys R Us, Curry’s, Halfords and Homebase donating tools and equipment.

McDonald’s franchisee Grant Copper said: ‘As a business we understand the important role that we play in making the area a better place. While we are keen to discourage littering, we recognise that community events like this one help make a huge impact on the local area. I’d like to thank everyone involved.’

Tim Head, a Stamshaw playground site worker, said: ‘We were thrilled to see so many volunteers help to clean up the playground. Our park is very popular with families and children and we’re so grateful to the McDonald’s staff for volunteering their time to help prepare the playground for the new zipwire.’

Work is under way in Clement Attlee Way in Paulsgrove to build a McDonald’s restaurant which is due to open later this month. A house was demolished to make way for the new restaurant.

The McDonald’s restaurants in Cosham, Fratton and Fareham have all recently undergone refurbishments.
