IT’S a case of building up the pedal power for the managing director of a construction firm, who’s leading a team on a charity cycle challenge.

Grahame Pettit , of Fareham-based Amiri Construction, has been leaving his car on the driveway as much as possible during the past few weeks as he trains for the Cahors Cycle Challenge.

He will lead a four-man team on a 500-mile route from Brittany to Cahors in the French region of Dordogne from Thursday.

He said: ‘Last year the team raised over £4,000 on the three-day challenge.

‘We hope to beat that total this year to support Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation.’
