The 7 Portsmouth restaurants given a perfect hygiene score since reopening

These restaurants in Portsmouth have all been given a perfect food hygiene score since the hospitality sector reopened to customers.

When the coronavirus pandemic took hold in March every restaurant, cafe and pub in the UK was ordered to close, with many reopening in June once lockdown restrictions have eased.

Even though they can serve customers again the last few months have been a huge struggle for the sector, with new social distancing rules restricting the amount of customers allowed.

Many places have had to introduce reduced menus, staff have to wear face coverings and they have to collect test and trace data for all of their visitors.

As if this was not enough, many businesses in Portsmouth have also had to go through mandatory food hygiene inspections from the council, which are important for making sure businesses are safe to operate.

All businesses which handle food are rated on their hygienic food handling, cleanliness and condition of facilities and building, and management of food safety.

Each business is given a rating from zero (urgent improvement necessary) to 5 (very good).

Although only a minority of businesses have had an inspection since they reopened, we wanted to highlight the restaurants which have achieved a perfect ‘5’ score from inspectors.
