Artisan bakery Hoxton Bakehouse to bring its sourdough bread and cinnamon buns to the Meon Valley

MARKET town shoppers will be in for a sweet treat as an artisan bakers is due to open its doors.

Hoxton Bakehouse, which already has stores in Winchester and Lymington as well as a warehouse in Southampton, will be opening its newest venture at 3 Brook Court, Brook Street, Bishop’s Waltham at 8.30am on Thursday.

A Facebook post from the company said: ‘Please join us next Thursday when we open our awesome Bishop’s Waltham store and enjoy a coffee or any hot drink on us #wecantwait.’

The bakery has taken over the former furniture shop, which was formerly the toy shop, next to Freddie V's Barbershop.

Hoxton Bakehouse is run by former chefs and husband-and-wife duo Florence Hellier and Darren Bland.

It is well known for its sourdough bread, cinnamon buns, croissants and brownies.

It has been providing goods to more than 60 restaurants across the country since 2014.

Its customers include Angela Hartnett’s Lime Wood, Chewton Glen, The Pig, Four Seasons, River Cottage and The Greyhound on the Test, Stockbridge.

They also hope to open a branch in Petersfield before the end of the year.

Speaking to About Time Magazine, Florence said: ‘Bishop’s Waltham and Petersfield are both beautiful towns with wonderful customers. They both don’t have a proper bakery so we’re hoping to fill the gap.’
