WHEN the buyers for the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth were looking for an ice cream manufacturer to sell in its cafe, they would have almost been able to see their new supplier from the tower’s crows nest.

Hayling Island’s Northney Ice Cream, which makes all its products at Northney Farm using milk from its Ayrshire herd, will now be sold at the tower.

Emma Lennox, the tower’s food and beverage manager, said: ‘We’ve been looking for a local supplier for a while and we’d heard of Northney Farm’s good reputation and fantastic ingredients, so we couldn’t resist getting a few samples in.

‘Of course we were hooked and now we can’t wait to begin supplying the public! We are very much looking forward to working together.’

The firm was set up by Tim Pike in 2009 as a way to diversify the farm’s operations.

He said: ‘We are pleased to add the Spinnaker Tower to our growing portfolio of clients.

‘We work closely with a lot of the businesses in the area, so to have the Spinnaker Tower on board is a real landmark for us.’
