Convenience store to open following £50k investment

A former craft shop at 167 West Street has undergone a £50,000 refurbishment and will officially open as Costcutter tomorrow.

It is owned by business partners Jaranjeet Singh and Harmon Singh Kapoor and it will offer customers an expanded convenience range including fresh produce, hot food to go, National Lottery, a free ATM and a Pay Point machine.

Mr Singh, who owns another Costcutter store in Gordon Road, Gosport, said: ‘Opening a second store has always been in the plan and I am confident the Fareham Costcutter is just what the town needs.

‘We’ve got the space to offer a great fresh produce range as well as a coffee machine and hot food to go to ensure customers get a wide range of options when shopping with us.’

To celebrate the relaunch, the pair are inviting customers to a day of fun which will see the mayor of Fareham, Councillor Connie Hockley, officially open the store at 11am.

This will be followed by live music, face painting, special offers and entertainment.

Mr Singh added: ‘We look forward to seeing our customers tomorrow to help us celebrate the official opening of the new store.

‘We’ve got lots of exciting things planned including some special offers on the day.

‘I’m really excited about meeting the people of Fareham and hearing their feedback.’

They plan to hire two part-time staff members for the Fareham store.
