A surge in shopping prices drove up the rate of inflation in November, according to the latest official figures.

CPI inflation was at 3.3 per cent last month, the Office for National Statistics said yesterday.

That is up from 3.2 per cent in October.

The increase was driven by a jump in high street retail prices, especially those of food and clothes.
