AN EMPLOYMENT, education and training co-ordinator has been appointed by an authority to help job seekers secure work placements and apprenticeships.
Carolyn Jay has been hired by Winchester City Council to work on the service, which will build on its employment mentoring programme, run by charity Sova.
Carolyn has spent eight years working at Basingstoke Citizen’s Advice Bureau. She will be making use of her project management and communication skills as well as her awareness of the complex barriers job seekers face in getting back into work.
She said: ‘I am really looking forward to using the skills and knowledge I have gained from my previous experience in this exciting new role.
‘My first challenge is to find employers who would like to give job seekers a work placement, and see the rewards for themselves.’
If you are a business in the Winchester district, which includes Whiteley, Bishop’s Waltham, Wickham and Denmead, and would be willing to provide a work placement call 01962 848346.
