Countryside pub is officially one of the best in the country

Now The White Horse has come out top for the third year running.

The White Horse, in Chilgrove, near Chichester, has won the prestigious Best Pub in West Sussex accolade in The National Pub and Bar Awards for 2019.

Landlord Richard Miller said: ‘The whole White Horse team are extremely proud to have been voted the Best in West Sussex again in the prestigious Pub and Bar Awards 2019.

‘This is the third year running we have been lucky enough to have won, and I feel it shows the dedication, hard work and passion we all take in what we do.

‘Personally, it is a privilege to lead such an amazing group of individuals that make up The White Horse family.’

The White Horse – which is part of The Epicurean Collection, a group of boutique pubs and traditional inns – has been awarded a multitude of awards over the past few years including Best Pub in West Sussex 2017 and 2018 and the ‘Best Pub in the Country’ at the National Pub & Bar awards 2018.

The Best in County accolade is awarded to pubs that deliver on marks of quality, assessing every element that goes into making a hospitality experience truly excellent.

The White Horse, which also offers boutique accommodation, impressed the judges with its emphasis on local food.

The chefs pride themselves on creating menus from the freshest local produce sourced directly from the woodlands, farm and country estates that surround the inn.

The National Pub & Bar Awards has announced the best pubs and bars from each county across the United Kingdom.

In total, 94 venues from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have been selected as the best in their county and will now make their way to the National Pub & Bar Awards grand finale at BAFTA in London on May 22.

The Hiltonbury Farmhouse in Eastleigh and The Spyglass Inn in Ventnor were also among the regional winners.
