SCORES of crime fans went along to meet the author of a series of hard-hitting books set in Portsmouth.
Bestselling author Graham Hurley gave a talk on Wednesday entitled Trespass Who Dares: Adventures in Crime Fiction.
The event at the Portland Building was the latest of the University of Portsmouth’s series of free public lectures.
Mr Hurley signed copies and spoke about how he made Portsmouth the star of a series of novels featuring DI Joe Faraday and DC Paul Winter.
Former city resident Mr Hurley drew heavily on Portsmouth as the gritty backdrop to his long-running series.
He switched from writing international thrillers to crime novels on the advice of his publisher, which proved fruitful, as the Faraday series ran to 12 novels, and was followed by a spin-off series set in the West Country.
