ONE lucky dad was pleasantly surprised to find he had been crowned ‘Top of the Pops’ in a shopping centre’s competition.

Ben Good won a prize worth £150 containing an experience day for two and a voucher to spend in Fareham Shopping Centre.

The dad-of-two, of Fareham, was secretly nominated for the contest by his young sons – Aiden, two, and Samuel, five.

Ben, 38, said: ‘It was a pleasant surprise. My wife told me to listen to a voicemail when I got home from work.

‘I was somewhat perplexed as to why she couldn’t just tell me what the content was. When I heard that I had won the competition, I couldn’t quite believe it.

‘I had no idea my name had been put forward.

‘I was overjoyed with the prize. It is something special when you know that your children have put you forward as being the best dad. I felt a swell of paternal pride.’

Shopping centre manager Mike Taylor said: ‘We thank all those who entered the competition and give a special thanks to Thomas Cook who donated the adventure day prize.’
