Dental care practices will donate takings to charity

Dubbed Super Saturday, all Oasis Dental Care practices in the UK will donate a percentage of their profit from this day entirely to charity.

The practices, which don’t normally open at weekends, will raise funds for Bridge2Aid Foundation, as well as a local charity chosen by each of them.

The Oasis practice in Cosham decided to also support the Alzheimer’s Society and the Oasis Dental Care in Waterlooville chose The Rowans Hospice.

Gill Durman, the practice manager at Oasis Dental Care Portsmouth, said: ‘The aim of our Super Saturday event is for staff and patients to have some fun while we raise as much money as possible for important causes in the UK and abroad.

‘Residents are welcome to come along and say hello to us on the day and find out a bit more about what we provide, and the range of services we offer individuals and families.’

Lesley Clayton, community fundraiser at The Rowans Hospice, said: ‘We are extremely grateful to Oasis Dental Care in Waterlooville for supporting The Rowans Hospice through their fundraising activities and open days.

‘The money raised will help provide vital care and support for people affected by life-limiting illnesses in the area.’

Alison Speak, Director of HR at Oasis, said: ‘Seventy per cent of the world’s population do not have access to a dentist.

‘This is something we take for granted in the UK.

‘Bridge2Aid helps provide training for rural-based health workers in developing countries, giving them the equipment, skills and resources they need to provide emergency dental care.

‘This is a cause close to Oasis’s heart, so we plan to raise as much money as possible to donate to Bridge2Aid and also, to help smaller charities at a local level.’

The practices will be open from 9am to 1pm on the day. Dental services will be available to patients as normal.
