A HOUSING developer has won an award.
Lovell came out on top to be named as Contractor of the Year in the 2014 Builder and Engineer Awards.
The firm, of Solent Business Park in Whiteley, travelled to Manchester to receive the top prize at the annual awards organised by industry magazine Builder and Engineer.
Lovell area manager Bob Birch said: ‘I’m delighted on behalf of all our employees, as well as the subcontractors and partner organisations who work with us and are a vital part of our team.’
Lovell designs, builds and sells homes across the UK.
And it carries out major housing regeneration and refurbishment schemes.
Key schemes in the south include a £30m regeneration programme for Southampton City Council at three estates in which the company is building 221 affordable and open-market homes.
At the awards evening, Lovell was commended for its approach to its work.
The award judges said: ‘It was clear that it is the Lovell people who really make the difference.
‘They are committed to leaving a legacy wherever they work – changing people’s lives for the better.’
Lovell was also a finalist in the Corporate Social Responsibility category for its corporate social responsibility programme.
It includes ensuring the highest health and safety standards, helping employees progress in their careers, reducing the company’s environmental impact and benefiting local communities.
Lovell was short-listed in the Apprentice of the Year category too.
The company is now looking ahead to the year with the latest of its housing developments, Mansfield Park, in Harefield, which will be launched this year.
The launch of Mansfield Park follows on from the success of Montague Place – which is sold out.
