SOUTHERN Water is to begin a campaign to raise public awareness about the risks of getting rid of fat, oil and grease down the kitchen sink.

A pavement artist will be creating a 3D view of a blocked sewer on a pavement at Gunwharf Quays as part of the Fat, Oil and Grease event on March 25, which begins at 10.30am. Leaflets will be handed out.

Local dignitaries including the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, MPs and shoppers will also be able to hear an update on a scheme the water company is planning to reduce the risk of flooding in the city by separating surface water and foul water sewers.
